The time has come. Although my semi final predictions for winners was only half right, the Argentine team advances, and that is all that matters. The Moroccans can hold their heads high having advanced as far as they have though a third place finish proved out of reach as the Croatians stake their claim as a a national team to be reckoned with in modern times.
But alright people, let’s get to what this post is all about. Messi and Argentina. A chance for the prodigal son of Rosario to forever cement himself as the god of soccer. I have a feeling Messi will put literally every fiber of his being into tomorrow’s match, so much so that he will be passed out on the pitch after the match – but the reason my money is on Argentina more than that is because not only will Messi be going full throttle, so will every single member of his supporting cast including the air humping goalkeeper Emi Martinez. They ALL know that this match is just as much about their country winning as it is about Messi. If I was the French national team I would be genuinely afraid – although the last encounter of France vs Argentina saw the French get the better of the Argentine’s ever so slightly with a 4 – 3 victory in 2018 – times have changed. It is the time for Messi and co to take what is rightfully theirs and restore glory to their country that last won the World Cup in 1986 with none other than the infamous Diego Maradona. Things truly would come full circle and all will be right with the world. France is impressive and looking to secure dynasty status with a victory – however, the soccer gods will be at work and do all they can to propel Messi to the one accolade that evades him.
Ok so basically France seems to be offensively sound more than any team with the spring chicken Giroud endlessly clucking on. However – given the circumstances I would equate the Argentina national team to the situation in Mario Kart when all racers get gold stars and go invincible and faster than any other racer – such is this atmosphere. Everyone sit back and enjoy history unfolding in front of our very eyes.
If you are a true fan of soccer, regardless of typical club/national team allegiance – you will be rooting for Argentina to win. If Messi wins we all win. Vamos Argentina!
