Close but no cigar blunt

Reggae Boyz stumble as they approach finish line

Some things ain’t meant to be. Watching Jamaica take on Mexico showed completely different styles of play (a tale of two countries). The rasta men could hang when it came to pure athleticism but when it came to ball movement, composure, and creating legitimate goalscoring chances, the Mexicans were in a league of their own. The jumping beans put three easily past the uncomposed dancehall artists in their semifinal fixture.

It’s finally our time boys! (or is it?)

Panamanian Devils topple Captain Americas

In what was truly a cracking fixture (more goals would have been nice), the Panamanians took down the statesmen in dramatic fashion. Ninety minutes of what looked to be many chances but no end product was followed by a nail biting period of extra time and finally topped off by a dramatic penalty kick shoot out. Panama will now be in their third Gold Cup final. They also got some justice given the fact that they crashed out of their chance at glory at the hands of the United States on two previous occasions.

Going to go ahead and say that is an unnatural position of the arm

Americans getting away with murder…nothing new and in this case it applies to soccer! Damn I don’t know if this ref’s wife (mistress) is American or he is getting paid off (more likely scenario) but with VAR a preschooler could have told you this incident was a handball. Regardless of the exciting extra time goals with Jesús Ferreira hitting a banger on the volley to level with the relentless Panamanian attack they did not deserve to advance. The American’s were ultimately dealt a swift blow at the hand’s of karma in the form of a PK shoot out where the savior Ferreira turned disappointment as his tame initial PK was saved by the Panamanian shot stopper Orlando Mosquerra.

Mexico vs Panama

Mexico vs Panama…now we’ll learn, who’s the best!

Firsts are a very important part of life. First time driving a car, first kiss, first base, first place, first time trying alcohol (ain’t that the truth). And what we are approaching now is what could be the first time Panama lifts the Gold Cup! Mexico are fluid and clearly show experience having lifted the Gold Cup eight times in the past. The experience is sure to serve them well against the hope for all of Central America as not a single country from the stretch of land that connects North and South America has ever achieved finals glory. I do not have a dog in this fight. I simply want to see a well played match with better refereeing than the semifinals (a very reasonable ask). I am also requesting a better finale to the tournament than the last episode of ‘The Idol’ (series that ranks dead last in the history of shows produced by HBO). Once again, do your own research. The finale was whack and did not make much sense but the writing is clever and most people are just happy the show is over (that’s all folks).
